Mathias Eick visited Moldejazz last in 2011, and now it is time to invite the critics and audience favorites back. Mathias Eick is undoubtedly one of Norway's greatest jazz names. He is one of the few artists in his genre who makes music that feels right at home both in packed clubs and on big shows, and he has reached an audience far beyond both genre and national boundaries.

After completing education in Jazz Line from NTNU in Trondheim, Eick made great success in collaboration with artists such as Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Chick Corea, Thomas Dybdahl, Jaga Jazzist, Manu Katché, Elvira Nikolaisen and Jacob Young to name a few. In 2008, Eick released his first solo album for ECM, "The Door", and has since been touring around the world with different ensembles and projects. As a trumpetist, vibraphonist, double bassist, guitarist or pianist, multi-instrumentalist Eick has contributed in more than 100 recordings.

He has been awarded the International Jazz Talent by IJFO and won both the Statoil Scholarship and the DNB Prize. The album " Ravensburg " - his fourth on the well-reputed ECM, is launched internationally in March. His infectious drive and poetic tunes will undoubtedly provide him with an even more enthusiastic audience.
In the band, Eick is flanked by an eminent bouquet of musicians: pianist Andreas Ulvo, drummer Torstein Lofthus, bassist Audun Erlien and the young violinist Håkon Aase.
