Becca Stevens Band

Norway Premiere for Artist Compared to Joni Mitchell!

American vocalist Becca Stevens was named Best Rising-Star Female Vocalist by jazz magazine Downbeat in 2017 for a good reason.

Teatret Vårt (PLASSEN) 350,- fees incl.

Her outstanding experience as a jazz vocalist and as a collaborating artist on the American jazz scene really stands in a class of its own. Collaborating in albums of outstanding composers and musicians such as Billy Childs, Jeremy Pelt, Esperanza Spalding, Ambrose Akinmusire, Brad Mehldau, Taylor Eigsti, Jose James and David Crosby - a total of twenty-two releases over ten years, demonstrates her ability to enter any musical expression from standard to pop. In recent years she has also appeared as a guest writer at Snarky Puppy’s Family Diner, and formed a duo with the prodigy Jacob Collier. Something that has made her even more familiar to the audience in Europe. It is still as an artist and songwriter on her own that Stevens impresses most. With four albums in her own name, Steven's music has a personal artistic expression where jazz and American music is mixed with pop and strong lyrics. Stevens is also praised by critics for her guitar and mandolin skills, and as a singer and songwriter, she is more often compared to Joni Mitchell. We are really proud to be presenting Becca Steven's debut performance in Norway sometime during this year's Moldejazz when she, together with her band, takes the stage at Teateret Vårt on Saturday, July 21st.
