Tord Gustavsen trio
Album premiere
Tord Gustavsen Trio wrote their name in Norwegian music history when their second album "The Ground" in 2005 topped the VG charts as the first instrumental album ever. The trio's intensely present and low-key expression obviously struck a chord both with the audience and critics, but the international success was also significant with six-digit record sales and sold out concerts around the globe.
The trio's last album "Being There" came in 2007, and since then, pianist and composer Tord Gustavsen has played with larger crews and collaborated with singers like Solveig Slettahjell, Simin Tander, Kristin Asbjørnsen and Christel Alsos.
When the unique trio now returns, they have a big and expectant audience ready and waiting - for Tord Gustavsen Trio's music has not really reached as many people it can reach. Music that many have an unusually strong relationship with, and that relate to periods or events in their own lives. The trio, along with Gustavsen, comprising of bassist Sigurd Hole and drummer Jarle Vespestad has recorded a new album for ECM, and they come to Moldejazz with both new and old material. It will be their first concert with a new material. As a curiosity it can also be mentioned that this concert gives Tord Gustavsen the opportunity to play on the new piano he picked out for Moldejazz at the Steinway factory in Hamburg last year. The event will be certainly be beautiful!
