Maria Schneider & Ensemble Denada

- feat special guests Donny McCaslin & Jeff Taylor

Bjørnsonhuset 450,- fees incl.

The opening concert with this year's Artist In Residence Maria Schneider & Ensemble Denada is based on a collaboration that was established a few years back where Schneider and Ensemble Denada, among others, were on a tour of South Africa together.

The musical content of the concert is still (Nov 17) under development, but it is clear that they will perform the song "Sue (Or In A Season of Crime)" that Schneider composed with David Bowie. Schneider said in an interview with Romsdals Budstikke in October 2017 that she never thought she would perform that song, now she will be doing it in Molde. Ensemble leader Anders Eriksson says this about the collaboration between Denada and Maria Schneider:

"Maria Schneider is one of the best composers and lead who has continued the legacy of the American greats and taken the great jazz form into a new millennium. To compose and perform  a concert with Schneider's music and under her leadership is great. In Molde we will perform music that has not been performed live earlier, including "Sue (or in a season of crime)". We also have Donny McCaslin from Bowie's last album Blackstar, and singer Jeff Taylor. But there may also be even more new music from Schneider and last but not the least, there will be music from several of her amazing albums, including "Sky Blue" and my favorite album "The Thompson Fields". We have already received inquiries about concerts with Schneider from various teams internationally."
